Public Encouraged to Download Mor Chana App to Trace COVID-19 Infections

Members of the public have been urged to download the "Mor Chana application, a contact tracing application, which is designed to contain the local transmission of COVID-19.

Minister of Digital Economy and Society Buddhipongse Punnakanta said that the resurgence of COVID-19 pandemic in many areas of the country, especially among foreign workers, has prompted the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) to step up the campaign for the download of the Mor Chana application.

This application, he said, has been developed by the Ministry of Digital Economy and Society, which has been working closely with experts in this field. It will facilitate the operations of doctors and other health personnel in dealing with the disease, as they will be able to quickly identify potential risks and reduce the spread of the virus.

Like the GPS system, Mor Chana will record information about the whereabouts of the users. It will identify persons who have come into contact with COVID-19 patients using GPS and Bluetooth technology to trace their location.

The contact tracing application will also notify individuals when they are getting close to infected persons, as well as telling them to take necessary actions promptly and to meet medical authorities in order to prevent further transmission. It covers accurate information connected with the Department of Disease Control, Ministry of Public Health.

Downloading the Mor Chana application is easy on both iOS and Android mobile devices.
