His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua has instructed the building of seven additional biosafety mobile units to cope with the new wave of COVID-19 infections in Thailand.

His Majesty on 6 July 2020 donated 13 biosafety mobile units to collect COVID-19 test specimens for the Ministry of Public Health to use in various areas across the country, such as schools, temples, and congested communities, as well as using them among risk groups.

The seven additional biosafety mobile units bring the total number of royally granted biosafety mobile units to 20.

Biosafety mobile units will increase the efficiency of health personnel in COVID-19 active case finding among high-risk groups. Each unit is equipped with public health personnel and necessary equipment, such as a temperature control system, an air filter system, and a positive pressure and volume-controlled ventilation.

Their Majesties the King and Queen have been closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and have expressed concern for the health and safety of the general public and medical personnel. They have also donated medical equipment to various hospitals nationwide in order to support COVID-19 relief efforts and to curb the spread of the pandemic.

The Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) reported on 11 January 2021 that the total number of cumulative COVID-19 infections in Thailand was 10,547, with 6,566 recoveries, and 3,914 are still in hospital. The number of deaths was 67.

From the analysis conducted by the Ministry of Public Health, the current wave of the COVID-19 outbreak in the country is stable and likely to slow down by two weeks or by the end of January. However, the authorities still cannot trust that the numbers will not increase.
