15 January 2020 (Readers 433)

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua, Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana, and Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati will inspect the ceremonial parade of military and police officers in the oath-taking ceremony on the occasion of the Coronation of King Rama X 2019.

The ceremony will take place at the Royal Thai Army Cavalry Center at Adisorn Military Camp in Saraburi province on 18 January 2020, which marks Royal Thai Armed Forces Day.

His Majesty the King, Her Majesty the Queen, and Her Royal Highness are scheduled to arrive at the Royal Thai Army Cavalry Center by helicopter at 16.00 hr.

The Supreme Commander will give a report on the background of the ceremony, offer best wishes to His Majesty, and lead the military and police officers in taking the Oath of Allegiance. On this occasion, His Majesty the King will deliver a royal address.

The ceremonial parade and the oath-taking ceremony are meant to honor His Majesty the King and to show the loyalty and unity of the Thai military and police. His Majesty the King is recognized as the highest commander of the Thai armed forces.

Each year, the day of 18 January is observed as Royal Thai Armed Forces Day. It commemorates the victory of King Naresuan of the Ayutthaya period in a battle on elephant-back when he defeated the Burmese Crown Prince Mingyi Swa on 18 January 1592.

Since the past, whenever the country is confronted with threats affecting its internal security, as well as the peace and safety of the people, the Royal Thai Armed Forces has always been entrusted by the government with a major role in solving the issues, along with the police and other government agencies.
