In a regulation, signed by Prime Minster General Prayut Chan-o-cha on 15 May 2020, the curfew time across the Kingdom will be shortened by one hour, as part of the Government’s second phase of relaxation measures.
The regulation, to be in effect from 17 May 2020, prohibits any person throughout the Kingdom to leave their dwelling places from the time of 23.00 to 04.00 hr of the following day. The exemptions to the prohibition to leave dwelling places, in accordance with Regulation (No. 3) issued on 10 April 2020, shall remain in force.
The Government earlier imposed a six-hour curfew from 22.00 to 04.00 hr in order to flatten the curve of COVID-19 infections.
Meanwhile, the Center for COVID-19 Situation Administration on 15 May 2020 reported seven new COVID-19 cases in Thailand, raising the number of confirmed cases to 3,025. Out of the number of confirmed cases, 2,854 (94.35 percent of all cases) have been cured and 115 (3.80 percent) are still hospitalized. The number of deaths remained unchanged at 56.
According to Spokesperson of the Center for the COVID-19 Situation Administration Dr. Taweesin Visanuyothin, the seven new cases were all patients who arrived from Pakistan on 7 May and have been in state quarantine.
The Prime Minister urged the people to continue to comply with existing COVID-19 measures in a strict manner. Businesses and services to be reopen are required to implement disease prevention measures to prevent the second wave of the spread of COVID-19. Among the measures are observing physical distancing, wearing masks, and checking the body temperature of relevant persons.
