Thailands Contribution to the UN COVID-19 MPTF

Foreign Minister Don Pramudwinai has announced Thailands contribution in the amount of 100,000 USD to the UN COVID-19 Response and Recovery Multi-Partner Trust Fund (UN COVID-19 MPTF).

The announcement was made on 26 June 2020, when the Foreign Minister delivered remarks at the Recovery Better Together Action Forum via teleconference, at the invitation of Ms. Amina J. Mohammed, UN Deputy Secretary-General.

According to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the contribution to the UN COVID-19 MPTF affirms Thailands continued support to the United Nations work and its solidarity with the international community to assist countries affected by COVID-19 during this difficult time so all countries can together overcome this crisis and "build back better for a sustainable economy, society, and peoples well-being.

The UN COVID-19 MPTF, initiated and announced by Mr. Antonio Guterres, United Nations Secretary-General, will serve as an inter-agency financing mechanism to help countries that have been affected by COVID-19.

Among countries which have already pledged contributions are Denmark, the Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Slovakia, and Switzerland. Funding has already been allocated to support immediate response projects in several affected countries.
