A SUPPORT and OTOP Fair is being held in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother on the occasion of her birthday celebration, 12 August 2020.

Prime Minister and Defense Minister General Prayut Chan-o-cha on 10 August 2020 presided over the opening of the fair at Challenger Hall 2, IMPACT Exhibition and Convention Center, Muang Thong Thani, Nonthaburi province.

The fair, scheduled for 8-16 August, consists of 1,000 booths, with SUPPORT handicrafts and OTOP products from all parts of Thailand. It also aims to stimulate the Thai economy in order to get through the COVID-19 situation.

SUPPORT stands for the Foundation for the Promotion of Supplementary Occupations and Related Technique, which was established by Her Majesty Queen Sirikit in 1976. One of its objectives is to preserve time-honored crafts, techniques, and skills.

As for OTOP, it stands for the "One Tambon, One Product program, launched by the Government in 2001 to build up small enterprises in communities by encouraging the people to manufacture local products using their homegrown skills and expertise. It is a way of stimulating human creativity and innovation at the grassroots level, as well as generating more income for local people. The Government has been developing OTOP products and expanding more marketing channels for them.

The SUPPORT and OTOP Fair also features an exhibition in honor of Her Majesty Queen Sirikit The Queen Mother, who has set an example in the preservation of Thai arts and culture. The SUPPORT Foundation provides training for farmers to enable them to produce high-quality crafts and be engaged in supplementary occupations to earn more income and spend time fruitfully. SUPPORT handicrafts have numerous admirers both within and outside the country.
