BMA rolls out real-time website for Songkran celebrations

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) has invited the public to share their real-time experiences of participation in the Songkran festival around Bangkok on the website https://happening.city/songkran2024.

The website features an interactive map indicating real-time events and relevant programs during the Bangkok Songkran Festival 2024. The platform also allows celebrants to share their water-throwing experiences, including wetness levels, fun ambience, risk alerts, and the current traffic situation, through reports and pins.

This year, the Songkran festival, or the water festival, will be held all month long in April, with different dates and in numerous locations. There are over 100 water-throwing celebrations throughout the city, along with many activities that promote the more traditional side of the festival, such as the pouring of lustral water onto the palms of elders as a gesture of respect, and giving alms to Buddhist monks.
