Kuala Lumpur – The 47th ASEAN Summit, held from 26–28 October 2025 in Kuala Lumpur, concluded successfully with the adoption of 80 outcome documents, reflecting ASEAN’s continued efforts to strengthen regional cooperation and partnership amid evolving global challenges.
According to Prime Minister’s Senior Press Secretary Tunku Nashrul Abaidah, the adopted documents included joint statements between ASEAN leaders and their counterparts from the United States, Japan, India, New Zealand, and Australia, as well as results from the ASEAN+3 Summit, the East Asia Summit (EAS), the Asia Zero Emission Community (AZEC) Leaders’ Meeting, and the Regional Comprehensive Economic Partnership (RCEP) Summit.
A key milestone of this year’s Summit was the formal admission of Timor-Leste as ASEAN’s 11th member, following its application for membership in 2011. The move reaffirms ASEAN’s principle of inclusivity and commitment to shared regional prosperity.
Another notable outcome was the signing of the Kuala Lumpur Peace Accord between Thailand and Cambodia, witnessed by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim and U.S. President Donald Trump.
Tunku Nashrul said the accord reflects ASEAN’s collective commitment to resolving regional disputes through peaceful and constructive means.
