Following a surge in public support, the Thai Red Cross Society has confirmed that current blood supplies are sufficient to meet the needs of hospitals near the Thai-Cambodian border—including Surin, Sisaket, Ubon Ratchathani, and Buriram—for at least one week.
“We now have enough blood to supply frontline hospitals for the next seven days,” said Ms. Piyanan Khumklong, Assistant Director for Blood Procurement and Corporate Image at the National Blood Centre. “Thank you to everyone who stepped up to help—we truly appreciate the unity shown by the Thai people.”
She added that over 1,200 individuals had already come forward to donate blood as of 25 July, demonstrating an overwhelming show of solidarity.
To help manage the flow of donors, Ms. Piyanan encouraged the public to come in gradually and to follow updates on the Centre’s Facebook page. “Blood has a limited shelf life. We need to manage what we’ve received carefully and monitor the situation daily,” she explained.
While the current priority is to support medical facilities near the conflict zone, she emphasized that donated blood also continues to benefit patients in hospitals nationwide.
