Representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Royal Thai Army, and other relevant agencies, such as the Ministry of Interior and the Government Public Relations Department, on 1 August 2025 led a group of 150 people to visit Ubon Ratchathani and Si Sa Ket provinces to observe civilian areas attacked by Cambodian forces.
The group comprised members of diplomatic corps from 11 countries, defense attachés from 23 countries, and representatives from 23 international media agencies, as well as members of the Thai media. They visited several locations, including a gas station, convenience store, subdistrict health promotion hospital, and temporary shelter center.
The visit provided an opportunity for international representatives to observe and assess the impact of clashes initiated by the Cambodian side. Its purpose was also to disseminate facts and the truth regarding the Thai-Cambodian border situation to the international community.
On this occasion, the foreign representatives met and interacted directly with affected families, and witnessed the care being provided by both government and private sectors for victims and evacuees. They thanked the Thai government for the visit, which demonstrated the sincerity and good faith that Thailand has always shown.
A press briefing, organized by the Ad Hoc Center for the Thailand–Cambodia Border Situation, took place at 18.00 hr in Mueang District, Ubon Ratchathani Province. The briefing was given by Mr. Nikorndej Balankura, Spokesperson, Ad Hoc Center (for foreign affairs), and Rear Admiral Surasant Kongsiri, Spokesperson, Ad Hoc Center (for security).
In the press briefing, the foreign representatives were told that Thailand and Cambodia had agreed to join a special session of the General Border Committee (GBC) meeting, to be held in Malaysia from 4 to 7 August 2025. The secretariat-level meeting will take place on 4-6 August, followed by the defense ministers' meeting on 7 August.
