MFA Thailand Briefs International Diplomats & Organizations on Thai-Cambodian Border Situation

On 4 August 2025, Mr. Maris Sangiampongsa, Minister of Foreign Affairs organized a briefing for the diplomatic corps and representatives of international organizations regarding Thai-Cambodian border situation including:

- Timeline of events;

- Initial incident started by Cambodian side;

- Breach of the ceasefire agreement by Cambodia;

- Cambodian indiscriminate attacks violating numerous international conventions by targeting non-military sites; and

- Cambodia's continued efforts to distort information on the world stage.

Resulted from the above actions, Thailand has called on Cambodia to stop disseminating disinformation and to engage sincerely in resolving the issues through existing bilateral mechanisms.

In addition, Thailand and Cambodia have agreed to resume direct communications between their Prime Ministers, Foreign Ministers, and Defence Ministers to enhance prevention of further misunderstandings and support de-escalation efforts. At present, the General Border Committee (GBC) meetings are being held from 4-7 August 2025, in Malaysia, where more detailed arrangements are being worked out to implement the ceasefire.
