Border Tensions in Seven Provinces Have Eased

Government Spokesperson Jirayu Houngsub, as a member of the Ad Hoc Center for Thailand-Cambodia Border Situation, stated that Thai-Cambodian border tensions in seven provinces have eased, and relevant agencies are closely monitoring the situation.

Speaking on 13 August 2025 at 18.10 hr, Mr. Jirayu urged local people not to believe in fake news that warned them of evacuation because of the re-escalation of the border tensions.

He asked the people to follow news and information on the border situation from official sources only, saying that the Government and the Royal Thai Army consider public safety and security to be of the utmost importance.

Mr. Jirayu also expressed the Government’s profound concern for the Thai soldiers injured by Cambodia’s anti-personnel landmines recently planted on Thai territory. This is clearly a violation of Thai sovereignty, a breach of the Ottawa Convention, and an inhumane act. The Thai government urged the international community to pressure the Cambodian government on landmine clearance.

Deputy Minister of Defense and chair of the Ad Hoc Center for Thailand-Cambodia Border Situation Gen. Nattaphon Narkphanit affirmed the Government’s commitment to providing all the injured military personnel with full treatment and the compensation they deserve. He also emphasized that security authorities would not stay complacent on the situation and would continue to protect Thailand's sovereignty and national security.
