Thailand calls for Urgent Border Demining with Cambodia at Informal 10th MLC Foreign Ministers’ Meeting

On August 14, 2025, Thailand's Foreign Minister Maris Sangiampongsa participated in an informal "tea chat" with his Chinese and Cambodian counterparts on the sidelines of the 10th Mekong-Lancang Cooperation Foreign Ministers' Meeting (10th MLC FM). The consultation took place in Anning, Yunnan Province, during the three-day conference held from 13-15 August 2025.

The Thai Foreign Minister expressed Thailand’s appreciation to China for supporting the peaceful resolution of issues between Thailand and Cambodia through bilateral mechanisms, backed by ASEAN, and for helping ensure the ceasefire is fully and effectively implemented.

He also stressed the urgent need for Thailand-Cambodia cooperation on clearing landmines along their shared border to ease tensions and restore normal conditions in border communities, which is an issue that will be addressed at the upcoming Regional Border Committee (RBC) Meeting. In addition, preventing misunderstandings and misinformation spread through social media is another important matter that was agreed upon at the meeting.
