Their Majesties the King and Queen Deliver Humanitarian Assistance to Myanmar People

His Majesty King Maha Vajiralongkorn Phra Vajiraklaochaoyuhua and Her Majesty Queen Suthida Bajrasudhabimalalakshana have graciously appointed Mr. Chirayu Isarangkun Na Ayuthaya, Privy Councilor, as Their Majesties’ representative to deliver humanitarian assistance to the people of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar affected by Cyclone Mocha.

The assistance was provided through U Chit Swe, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Kingdom of Thailand. It was meant to support the continued efforts to help those affected by Cyclone Mocha, which struck the western part of Myanmar on 14 May 2023.

A ceremony to receive the royal donation was organized at the Royal Thai Air Force Base, Wing 6, in Bangkok on 22 May 2023. At the ceremony, the Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar expressed his sincere gratitude for Their Majesties’ kind care and thoughts for the people of Myanmar.

The royal donation comprises a number of tents, blankets, towels, household medicine and remedies, dried food items, and other necessary relief items, which were delivered to Yangon by the Royal Thai Air Force on Tuesday, 23 May.

Also, on 22 May, Prime Minister and Defense Minister Gen. Prayut Chan-o-cha, on behalf of the Thai government, delivered humanitarian assistance to Myanmar, through the Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar.

The Thai government will also dispatch personnel and will liaise with the ASEAN Coordinating Center for Humanitarian Assistance on Disaster Management (AHA Center) to give additional humanitarian support, should there be further requests from Myanmar.

At the Cabinet meeting on 16 May, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and other relevant agencies were instructed to consider providing immediate humanitarian assistance, as appropriate, to Myanmar following Cyclone Mocha.

The Thai Red Cross Society and the Thai Chamber of Commerce and Board of Trade of Thailand have also opened bank accounts from now until 31 May 2023 to receive donations from the public for Cyclone Mocha-affected Myanmar people, as follows:

1.) Thai Red Cross Society: SCB current account: 045-3-04637-0;

2.) Thai Chamber of Commerce: KBANK savings account: 004-2-39457-2.
