The Election Commission of Thailand (ECT) on 15 May 2023 announced unofficial results of the 14 May 2023 general election to elect 500 members of the House of Representatives, as follows:
Based on the 99 percent of votes counted by the ECT, the Move Forward party came first, winning 14,233,895 votes (36.23 percent), from the party lists of political parties. The Pheu Thai party came in second position, gaining 10,865,836 votes (27.66 percent).
Coming third was the United Thai Nation party (Ruam Thai Sang Chart), gaining 4,673,691 votes (11.90 percent), while the Bhumjaithai party came fourth, winning 1,121,595 votes (2.86 percent). The Democrat party came fifth, receiving 899,303 votes (2.29 percent).
The Prachachart party was in the sixth position, gaining 576,613 votes (1.47 percent), followed by the Palang Pracharath party, 530,617 votes (1.35 percent), the Thai Liberal party (Seri Ruam Thai), 347,607 votes (0.88 percent), and the Thai Sang Thai party, 338,042 votes (0.86 percent). The ECT has yet to announce the preliminary allocation of the 100 party-list seats.
As for the election of 400 MPs under the constituency basis, the Move Forward party is expected to capture 113 seats, Pheu Thai 112 seats, Bhumjaithai 67, Palang Pracharath 39, United Thai Nation 23, Democrat 22, Chart Thai Pattana 9, Prachachart 7, Thai Sang Thai 5, Pheu Thai Ruam Palang 2, and Chart Pattana Kla 1.
Voter turnout in this general election was 75.2 percent, with 39,284,752 voters exercising their rights, out of 52,238,594 eligible voters. According to the Constitution, official results of the election will be announced within 60 days following the election day.
Negotiations to form a coalition to serve as the next government are now underway.
