Prime Minister and Finance Minister Srettha Thavisin and members of his Cabinet were granted an audience with His Majesty the King to be sworn into office at Ambara Villa, Dusit Palace, at 13.53 hr on 5 September 2023.
Speaking at Government House after having been sworn in, the Prime Minister stressed that his administration is the government of the people and intends to work tirelessly to solve various problems faced by the people.
He stated that he and his Cabinet would uphold the royal speech given by His Majesty the King as guidelines for performing their duties. The Government would also put public interest as the most important goal.
The Prime Minister said that his government would create legitimacy in national administration under the democratic system, with His Majesty the King as head of the state, by strengthening rule of law, enhancing efficiency, and promoting transparency on the basis of public participation.
He cited economic problems as major issues Thailand is facing now. He was confident that all Cabinet members would work hard to push forward all policies that benefit the people. Moreover, the Government would create equal opportunities for the people in moving Thailand toward a future of stability, prosperity, and sustainability. It also aims to tackle economic issues and divisions among the people.
The new Cabinet will hold a special meeting on 6 September to prepare for the policy announcement. The Government is scheduled to deliver its policy statement in Parliament on 11 September.
On 8 September, the Prime Minister said that he would travel to the northeastern provinces of Khon Kaen, Udon Thani, and Nong Khai to talk to the people and listen to their problems. He is also scheduled to attend the upcoming 78th United Nations General Assembly in New York in September.
