Nakhon Ratchasima Province Selected to Host International Horticultural Expo 2029

The International Association of Horticultural Producers (AIPH) on 6 March 2024 selected Nakhon Ratchasima Province in northeastern Thailand as the host of the International Horticultural Expo in 2029, known as “Korat Expo 2029.”

The decision was made at the General Meeting of the AIPHA, held in Doha, Qatar. A total of 32 member countries tendered bids to host the International Horticultural Exposition 2029.

The Korat Expo 2029 (level A1) will be held under the theme “Nature and Greenery: Envisioning the Green Future” from 10 November 2029 to 28 February 2030. It will take place on an area of 678 rai (271.2 acres) in Thephalai Subdistrict, Khong District.

The 110-day event is expected to attract between 2.6 and 4 million visitors, create around 36,000 jobs, and generate more than 18,900 million baht in income for the country. The Government believes that it will make Thailand better known in the international community in terms of agricultural development, technological and innovation advances, and local wisdom.

The Thai team attending the meeting to make the final round of the country presentation consisted of representatives from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ministry of Agriculture and Cooperatives, Nakhon Ratchasima Province, and the Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau (TCEB).

Following the selection by the AIPHA, Thailand is required to make a submission to the Bureau International des Expositions (BIE) for consideration and to complete the approval process to become a Certified License Host of the A1 Level Exposition.

Locally known as Korat, Nakhon Ratchasima Province is located about 260 kilometers northeast of Bangkok. It serves as a gateway to the northeastern region, and has fascinating traditions, charming hospitality, beautiful natural scenery, and rich biodiversity.
