Maha Songkran World Water Festival Proves Highly Successful

The Government has thanked all relevant agencies for joining hands in organizing the Maha Songkran World Water Festival, which attracted a great number of both Thai and international tourists, and it proved highly successful.

Government Spokesperson Chai Wacharonke said that about 785,000 tourists participated in the World Water Festival, held at Ratchadamnoen Klang Avenue and Sanam Luang in Bangkok from 11 to 15 April.

The event generated more than 2.8 billion baht for the Thai economy. Numerous shops joining this event earned more than 9.3 million baht from selling their products.

A survey, conducted by the Tourism Authority of Thailand, shows that tourists were satisfied with the World Water Festival at a very high level, which involved such activities as light and sound presentations and spectacular parades.

Tourists also enjoyed a delightful atmosphere, as well as various facilities and services. They also wanted Thailand to organize such a festival again in the future.

The Government Spokesperson thanked all Thais for their cooperation in serving as good hosts for Songkran 2024 celebrations nationwide. He believed that international tourists would like to join the Songkran festival in Thailand in coming years, as they appreciated the charms of Thai culture.

TAT also invites tourists to join the Wan Lai, or Flowing Day, event, following Songkran festivities. Regarded as part of Songkran, Wan Lai 2024 is being held in several provinces and features cultural activities, such as the building of sand pagodas, paying respect to older persons, traditional games, and performances, as well as sale of local products.

In Chon Buri, the event is held from 16 to 29 April. In Rayong, it is held on 16, 17, and 28 April. In Samut Prakan, the Wan Lai event is scheduled for 19-21 April, in Chachoengsao for 21 April, and in Kanchanaburi 17 and 19 April.
