The Police Provide Updates on Operations to Crack Down on Cyber Scams

Deputy Spokesperson of the Royal Thai Police Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat Deepor on 17 November 2025 provided updates on the police operations to crack down on cyber scams, an issue that had been announced by the Government as part of the national agenda.

Speaking at a press briefing at Santi Maitri Building, Government House, Police Pol. Maj. Gen. Siriwat pointed out that the operations had led to the arrest of over 7,000 suspects who were involved in criminal acts related to illegal SIM cards, mule accounts, and illegal internet service provision along border areas.

He said that the Royal Thai Police had also forged regional cooperation with other countries to suppress transnational online crime. Pol. Lt. Gen. Jirapop Phuridej, Assistant Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, recently joined a meeting with representatives from China, Myanmar, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam in Kunming, the People’s Republic of China, to discuss collaboration on transnational telecom and online fraud.

This meeting, he said, came up with tangible outcomes, which involve the implementation of the initiative on combating telecommunication and online fraud, with a 21-point comprehensive agreement to strengthen joint action against online scam networks through extraditing suspects, exchanging evidence, confiscating and freezing assets, and establishing a concrete cooperation mechanism to protect people and boost regional security

The Royal Thai Police is strongly committed to working together with the Government and the military in all dimensions and intensifying its suppression of technology-related crime to prevent Thai people from falling victim.

In this regard, he said, aggressive and proactive measures, both domestically and internationally, have been implemented against cyber scams.
