The 10th Asean Chiefs Of Military Medicine Conference (Acmmc) In Bangkok, Thailand

The 10th ASEAN Chiefs of Military Medicine Conference (ACMMC) was held at the Conrad Bangkok Hotel, the Kingdom of Thailand from 13 to 17 March 2023. The delegates from Brunei Darussalam were led by Colonel (Dr) Haji Awang Mohd Hafizul bin Haji Awang Mohd Hassan, Chief Medical Officer, Royal Brunei Armed Forces (RBAF).
 
The guest of honour for the opening ceremony was His Excellency Air Chief Marshal Kongsak Chantarasopa, the Deputy Chief of Defence Forces, Royal Thai Armed Forces. Over the course of the 5 days, the conference consisted of individual presentations by Young ASEAN Military Medical Officers (YAMMOs) relating to this year’s theme, “Next Innovation”, the Senior Officers’ Meeting on the “Direction of next round ACMMC”, and HOD Meeting on the topic of “Next Normal, Next ASEAN Military Medicine”. Multiple Bilateral Meetings were conducted between Brunei and some ASEAN member states to allow for discussions between countries. On the last day of the conference, the delegates were given the opportunity for cultural activities and to visit the ASEAN Center of Military Medicine (ACMM).

The ACMMC is held annually with each of the 10 ASEAN countries taking turns to be the host country. The conference serves as a platform for military medical officers to exchange knowledge and experiences in the field of Military Medicine either in crisis or in normal situations, and to help in strengthening the ties and cooperation between country members. The conference concluded with the handover Ceremony of ACMMC to Brunei Darussalam as host for 2024.
