Leading figures from Brunei's public and private sectors gathered at the Baiduri Community Space for the Brunei Economy Roundtable 2024 themed “Future-Proofing Brunei: Investing in the Next Generation of Economic Drivers”.

Hosted by the ASEAN and APEC Business Advisory Councils of Brunei Darussalam in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Economy (MoFE), the Roundtable provided a comprehensive outlook of the future of the Brunei Darussalam’s economy and identified key areas for investment and growth.

Yang Berhormat Dato Seri Setia Dr. Awang Haji Mohd. Amin Liew bin Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) and Second Minister of Finance and Economy, set the stage by reaffirming the government's commitment to creating a thriving business environment.

In his opening keynote address, the Minister at PMO and Second Minister of Finance and Economy emphasised the important role of public-private partnerships in driving economic development, highlighting the government's active support for strategic sectors and nurturing the seeds of sustainable growth for future generations.

The Minister further stressed the importance of striking a balance between economic growth and environmental responsibility as well as multi-stakeholder engagement and collaboration to achieve the national agenda.

Participants shared their perspectives on the economic outlook for the year ahead, key opportunities for the business community and policy recommendations to support economic growth.

The discussion identified several key themes, such as developing a green economy that includes renewable energy, preparing for a digital future, and ensuring a future-ready workforce that is nimble and prepared to adapt to a new world of work impacted by artificial intelligence.
