Phuket Immigration Police Superintendent Pol. Col. Thanet Sukchai recently introduced the "Phuket Crime Free" project with the aim of improving the safety of foreign tourists during peak travel times. The initiative was started as a result of cooperation between public and private organizations, including the Phuket Chamber of Commerce and Thai Hotels Association, and government agencies, such as the provincial administration, police, and immigration office. The increased number of tourists has raised concerns about crime, particularly drug-related offenses. The primary goal is to safeguard traveler accommodations by using an extensive database of enterprises and visitors, guaranteeing a place free from crime and drugs.
