Thailand, EU Discuss Bilateral Relations and Cooperation

Director-General of the Department of European Affairs Krongkanit Rakcharoen extended a warm welcome to H.E. Mr. David Daly, the Ambassador of the EU to Thailand. Both sides engaged in discussions regarding Thailand-EU relations and a path forward for bilateral cooperation.

Topics included the expedition of the Thailand-EU FTA negotiations, just and fair green transition, Schengen visa waiver, and more frequent exchange of high-level visits, among others.

Both sides have prepared for the 17th Thai-EU Senior Officials’ Meeting (SOM), scheduled for June 4, 2024, in Bangkok. The objective of the meeting is to evaluate and establish the direction of Thailand-EU relations in accordance with the Thailand-EU Comprehensive Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (PCA). Representatives from both Thailand and the EU reaffirmed the importance of dialogue and communication, especially on combating IUU fishing and providing capacity-building and know-how to help Thai entrepreneurs better adapt to the EU green measures.
